In continuation of my telegram of the 2nd.

instant, I have the honour to inform you that the estimated

annual loss on British Post Office at Tientsin has been cal-

-culated by the Postmaster-General to be $8,843 and to request

you to be good enough to intimate to the Tientsin Chamber of

Commerce that if the Chamber will guarantee a refund to the

Colony of such loss, the Post Office will be kept open till the

10th. October, 1909, and that otherwise it will be closed on

the 10th. of next October.
